Strong Neighborhood Houses

80% of youth live in poverty in Rockford’s Midtown and Ellis Heights neighborhoods. That’s why United Way is leading the fight to dramatically improve the quality of life for our children and families there with the programs and services available at our two Strong Neighborhood Houses.

Together with neighborhood residents and community partners, United Way is using its Strong Neighborhood Houses as the foundation for assessing neighborhood assets and needs, implementing solutions, and identifying metrics to evaluate impact.
Our Community Impact Team serves as “boots on the ground” in each neighborhood, developing authentic relationships with the residents and helping them fulfill their dreams for a better life.

Together with community partners, volunteers and donors, we’re winning the fight for the future of local at-risk youth – one house, one neighborhood at a time.
